To everyone who’s been with us in this project, everyone who’s been supporting us and manifesting their interest, we are pleased to announce that Fruta Feia is on tracks:
The legal constitution process of the Co-Op is nearly done, and its social organs and statutes are created.
The project manager has returned from Barcelona to Lisbon and it’s now arranging directly with farmers for the purchase of the fruits and vegetables.
By using the cooperative model, interested consumers – potential cooperatives – are the essential piece so that Fruta Feia can reach its main goal. Once again, we want to thank you for the interest you’ve shown and ask you to save your appetite for the moment we announce the launching of new vacancies in the Co-Op and share its operating rules. On our part, we are doing everything we can so that this moment comes as soon as possible, even if it’s delayed against our expectations. On your part, if you have any suggestions, questions or comments, please do not hesitate in sharing them with us.
We will take this time to assure a rich box throughout the seasons. In the next months we’ll be in the countryside, in the west region of Lisbon, establishing a wide network of partner-farmers. We leave you with some photos of our last visit to a farm – Quinta do Vedro, in Bombarral – where this year alone at least 60 tonnes of rocha pear will be left on the trees or given back to the land because they’re too small or stained due to hail. Delicious, however!
See you soon!
